SLCC Survey Results Part 1: SLCC 2007

237 Second Life Residents filled out the Survey as of October 2006 for the initial reporting stage of the survey results. Please note the survey is still available to take online at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=368902507169 Other surveys may follow as time progresses.

Please note that not all questions were not mandatory and some had multiple answers available for selection.

These results are only for the questions regarding the SLCC 2007. Please stay tuned for the results from the SLCC 2006 questions.

Statistics of SL Residents who filled out the SLCC Survey:

Of the SL Residents that filled out the survey:
- 84 had attended the SLCC 2006 in San Francisco and 27 had attended the SLCC 2005 in New York City.

- 101 had viewed SLCC 2006 events via a video stream and 74 had viewed the SLCC 2005 events via video stream.

- 8 were involved as organizers, 22 as volunteers, 5 as sponsors, 14 as speakers or panelists, 4 as Press and 33 Other (Entertainers, Attendees, Friends etc.) All other answered Not Applicable.

- Regarding SL experience: 20 participants were in SL less than 6 months, 62 had been in SL at least one year, 73 had been in SL at least two years, 32 had been in SL for three years, 27 had been in SL for more than three years and there were 14 responses coded at Other.

- 182 of the participants were from the United States, 20 from the United Kingdom, 11 from Canada, 3 from Australia and the rest from Japan, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden and Germany.

- 163 people had heard about the SLCC via the Second Life Forums, 46 by the SLCC website, 112 by Word of Mouth, 38 by the Message of the Day, 17 by Third Party Second Life related forums, 36 by Blogs, 8 by Press Releases and 27 as Other.

The top six choices for the SLCC 2007 are:
Las Vegas, Chicago, San Francisco, New York City, Toronto and Philadelphia.
*Please note that before a location is chosen many factors have to be taken into account such as regional volunteers, convention center locations and costs, importance of Linden Lab representation (If it is not held in the Bay Area Linden Lab will only send a few Linden represetatives to the convention) etc.

Would you rather have one singular SLCC 2007 in one location or perhaps multiregional SLCC's held in conjunction with one another?

- Most responded favoring SLCC 2007 in one location rather than multiple regional locations though a few were in favor of smaller regional meet-ups.

What month would you prefer for the SLCC 2007?

- Most choices fall between the summer months June, July and August or the Fall months of September, October or November

Who would you like to see speak at the SLCC 2007? Listed below are some of the suggestions for future speakers:

*The rest of the responses were general votes of support for speakers from Linden Lab, SL residents, academia and other famous industry people.

Would you prefer the current format of resident panels mixed with keynote speeches or more intimate roundtable discussions on various topics?

- General commentary seems to be to include a mix of smaller roundtable sessions with larger general interest speakers and also to run the convention on different tracks i.e. Business Track | Entertainment Track | Community Track.

Would you consider attending the SLCC 2007 next year?

- 106 responded Yes and 37 responded Maybe and 19 responded with Other.

Should we continue to have the in-world portion of the SLCC or look at other options such as post-convention videos etc.?

- 77 voted to keep the in-world SLCC as is, 21 voted to change it, 34 were undecided and 41 voted for other.

- Suggestions to improve the in-world aspects for the future include: more in-world leadership, more sponsor support, more post-convention videos, better streaming capabilities, better organization, more sims and more stability.
